Healthcare Issues and Policy

This course focuses on the contemporary issues facing the nursing profession and its relationship to health care policy and politics. Content includes knowledge on how health policy is formulated and the impact on health promotion, risk reduction, and disease and injury prevention.  It will examine health care policy as it relates to population health care, mental and behavioral health and global health considerations. Students will evaluate health policy issues and demonstrate how to participate in the political process within the microsystem, mesosystem and macrosystem levels.
